Manufacturing in Pleszew – A family matter

Pleszew is home to almost 18,000 people. It was officially mentioned as early as 1283 and during its eventful history was also known as Pleschen for some time under the rule of Germany. Pleszew does not dwell on its past but instead is a place of progress. Already in 1877 – seven years after Friedrich Gildemeister opened his factory – the Famot factory began operations in Pleszew.

Over 140 years of history has meant that generations of families have worked for Famot and continue today to do so for DMG MORI. Many began their training here and remain loyal to the business. The in-depth knowledge on materials and processing can thus be diligently passed on – a great asset for the company, which has enabled them to become the largest machine tool manufacturers in Eastern Europe. Moreover, Famot is the primary plant for machine manufacturing in Europe for DMG MORI and supplies other locations with machine frames.
