DMG MORI expands to Egypt
The decision has been made: DMG MORI will build Africa's first machine tool factory in Cairo - the capital of Egypt. Christian Thönes, CEO of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, signed a groundbreaking cooperation agreement together with AOI President Lt. Gen. Abdel Moneam Al Tarras and in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. The opening of the highly automated and fully digitalized production plant is scheduled for fall 2023.
The plan is not only to commission a new production plant for turning and milling machines, but also to offer state-of-the-art CNC training there together with DMG MORI Academy GmbH; schools and universities in Egypt are also to be included in the planned training offensive - thus making it possible for DMG MORI to promote the potential of Egypt's predominantly young and highly motivated population.
The scope of the production plant covers a total area of 60,000m2, and is expected to produce over 1,000 turning and milling machines annually. The focus will be on taking full advantage of holistic technology solutions: in addition to flexible automation and end-to-end digitalization, modern flow assembly with AGV transport systems ("Automated Guides Vehicle") will also be integrated into the plant. In this way, DMG MORI is supporting the start of a strong manufacturing industry in Africa, which will pave the way for a competitive industry and numerous technologies and other sectors.
