Social Responsibility: The apprentices at DMG MORI of DECKEL MAHO SEEBACH GMBH live up to their social responsibility

In May 2023, the social responsibility project of the apprentices at DMG MORI started at the Seebach site in cooperation with the Evangelical Primary School Katharina von Bora Eisenach.

Corporate Social Responsibility, what does that actually mean? Social responsibility is the social responsibility that a company voluntarily assumes. This means, for example, commitment to social projects, the environment or society, i.e. exactly the responsibility we are looking for at DMG MORI.

Our trainees at the Seebach site are aware of their social responsibility. They were able to demonstrate this on May 10 at the anniversary celebration of the Katharina von Bora Protestant Primary School.

The training department in Seebach has 19 cooperations with primary and general schools in the Wartburg district. Within the cooperations, DECKEL MAHO Seebach GmbH makes a large contribution in the context of vocational orientation and helps many pupils to develop a target image of their future professional future. For example, so-called "apprentice ambassadors" are sent to the 8th, 9th and 10th grades of the cooperating schools. There, they give the students a first-hand account of their everyday working lives and their activities in machine tool manufacturing, present the job description of an electronics technician for automation technology, for example, and can answer students' questions at eye level. With smaller experimental setups and new digitization solutions such as the HoloLense, you will inspire the next generations for a career in mechanical engineering. In addition, the trainees conduct plant tours, take part in career days or can inspire about an apprenticeship at DECKEL MAHO SEEBACH GMBH at job fairs in the region.

A cooperation partner of DECKEL MAHO SEEBACH GMBH is the Katharina von Bora Protestant Primary School, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year on May 10. Accordingly, the request to support the elementary school for the school's anniversary came at the right time.

"For us at DMG MORI, social responsibility means that we as a company actively contribute to solving various problems, especially when they exist among long-standing cooperation partners. Our apprentices were highly motivated to support in this case not through donations, but with social commitment, because this way they can support what is close to their hearts - the next generation in mechanical engineering. As a company, we strive to build many bridges between ourselves and skilled workers through social projects. By this we mean not only the children, but especially accompanying persons, i.e. potential specialists and managers who come into contact with our company at major events in the region." Laura Hohmann, Training Department DECKEL MAHO Seebach GmbH

"At the school anniversary of the Evangelische Grundschule, we apprentices came up with a creativity project that we could do together with children of all ages. There was also a station where we assembled small parts into finished components and taught the children how to use tools for the first time. The highlight was our throwing station and the tour on the Hooverboard. For us trainees, it is important to pass on our expertise to the youngest children in a playful way and to get them excited about industrial trades. The partnership with the Protestant elementary school and our social project has been a lot of fun and enjoyment for us and also for the school children. We hope to see the children again in a few years as apprentices in our company," says Eric Buttke, JAV chairman of DECKEL MAHO Seebach GmbH.

Looking back, the community service project, the school anniversary was a complete success. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Friends of the School, the school management and the parents' council, as well as all the employees involved at the Seebach site for the successful implementation of our social project.
