Sandro Scheffel
Software developer for DMG MORI Digital GmbH
Actively contribute to shaping digitization
In 2016, Sandro Scheffel found a job at DMG MORI Digital GmbH in Pfronten that challenges him and is a perfect match to his interests at the same time. As a software developer, the 28-year-old is able to actively contribute to digital transformation in machine tool building. Although his training as a system technician and his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering initially took him in a different direction – Scheffel demonstrated that is not just computer scientists who can work as a developer. “I was always extremely interested in computer science during my course,” he said describing his fascination that led him in the direction of software development.
For the native son of Kempten, joining DMG MORI Digital was the ideal opportunity to return to his home town. “I felt very at home here, right from the beginning – and when it came to the actual job, I was able to learn the ropes very quickly, thanks to the extensive training offered by DMG MORI.”
He also welcomes the fact that he can always take on new tasks. At the beginning he was primarily involved in developing technology cycles for machining, while today Sandro Scheffel works developing CELOS and CELOS APPs: “We are actively contributing to taking machine tool building into digitization. I find that very exciting.” He is also motivated by working in a team: “Our product manager, for example, supplies ideas for new CELOS APPs, for which our designers design the first draft of what should be displayed on the screen. We then go on to implement these designs and ideas in close cooperation, working closely together our colleagues from programming,” says Scheffel, describing the progression of the projects.
The first career years were very diverse – and Sandro Scheffel was very pleased with this. He is sure that the future will not be boring either. Digitization is progressing in leaps and bounds, making his range of tasks even more important: “It is also a great challenge to consistently develop new and even more innovative software solutions.”
