Takashi Okuda
General engineering manager for DMG MORI Management GmbH
Implementing challenging turnkey projects
Takashi Okuda first began working for DMG MORI in 1992. After studying electrical engineering in Osaka, the 49-year-old started his career with Mori Seiki at the Nara site, where he was employed in the area of customized machines. “I had the best possible opportunities to apply my interest in technology in practice.”
A further motivation for the Japanese man was the global orientation of the corporation. From 2001 onward, Takashi Okuda worked for 13 years in the USA, where he increasingly specialized in the field of automation. It was exactly this know-how that also brought him to Germany in the year 2017. As the general manager of engineering, he is responsible at the Wernau site for customized automation solutions.
“My daily challenge is to design the most efficient manufacturing solution for our customers,” says Okuda, describing his work, which requires a lot of creativity, team work as well as regular exchanges with suppliers and colleagues from other departments. “As I am also responsible for the EMEA markets, my working day is very varied. The mix of cultures and interplay of skills within our cultural company has provided me with fresh motivation.”
His area of automation solutions is becoming increasingly more important. Takashi Okuda also derives additional motivation from this development: “DMG MORI plans to offer almost all machines with automation by 2020. We are currently at approximately 10 percent. I very much enjoy actively supporting this growth.”
