Theory and practice integrated into everyday working life
The role of sales support that Thomas Prochnow took over in 2012 at DMG MORI at the Wernau site in the engineering department is a perfect fit for him: The qualified machine tool engineer, who had already worked in all areas of machining, can combine both theory and practice to thus optimally apply his experience. “I have always found all sides exciting – from manufacturing through quality assurance up to production management.”
The 51-year-old is responsible today for time studies, process design and process optimization. He develops manufacturing processes for customer applications and thus helps to optimize and refine components. “For me it is always about offering our customers a turnkey solution that will allow them to work economically.” Prochnow finds it particularly interesting that he regularly acquires new customers to look after. “This is always an exciting challenge. And because DMG MORI is continually growing, this will also continue,” says the Berlin native, who evaluates his job in a large corporation very positively after working for many years in medium-sized companies: “After working in one environment for many years, here I have the opportunity to satisfy my interest in future-orientated technologies.”
